Source code for the entire system is provided to users under a simple non-disclosure agreement.
MICR Automation is unique among banking software providers in this practice, which was begun with the original installation of its system in the late 1980’s.
The practice arose out of the belief by the system developers that they would want the source code if they were bankers purchasing a system that was so important to the operation of their bank.
This practice allows users to undertake their own enhancements if they need a feature that is not in the system, or that is far down on the list of scheduled enhancements.
In over twenty years of providing systems to community banks, no user has ever undertaken their own maintenance or development, but this is due to the excellent support provided by MICR Automation, not because they had no choice.
Users are also protected from forced upgrades or conversions if MICR Automation is ever sold.
