MICR encoded checks and other proof items are scanned at 180 items per minute while the MICR line is read simultaneously by the built-in MICR read head.  When driven by MICR Automation Software, the scanner works either as a total stand-alone proof system, or in conjunction with an existing sorter or NCR 7780.

For users who find it simplest to keep their existing proof operation running until electronic image presentment is implemented, it offers the best of both worlds.  It removes the need to buy image cameras for the sorter or 7780, but keeps the old system running while physical check handling and presentment is still needed.

The high speed and automatic jogging feeder makes quick work of proof batches and inclearing bundles.  Software control of the pocket destination allows documents to be kept in original transaction-set or inclearing-batch order.

The CR-180 can be used at branches to replace microfilming prior to transporting the items, and the resulting files can be sent over the network to the proof department.

When used with an NCR 7780, the items may be fed either prior to addition of the MICR amount  field, or groups of pocketed items may be fed after being processed through the 7780.

When used with a sorter or NCR 7780, the proof transfer files are used to place the images in final transaction set order.  The result is an industry standard image file identical to one created from a sorter or a multi-pocket proof machine with image cameras.

The daily image files are then placed onto the image server and used to support all imaging and Check 21 activities.

Multiple scanners operating simultaneously are supported, allowing maximum speed processing  during peak periods and providing a backup in case of scanner problems.

When physical item presentment ends in the future, users can upgrade to the MICR Automation CAR/LAR Image Proof System and retire their sorters, proof machines, and NCR 7780's.  Until then, they can have all the advantages of image cameras without the expense.
